Competence portfolios
A systematic assessment of your own skills, knowledge and abilities
Since 2007, the Center for Digital Teaching and Learning at the University of Graz has been offering students a competence portfolio model that enables them to systematically record their own skills, knowledge, and abilities. Students take a close look at their personal biography and record and analyze their (formally, informally, formalized and non-formalized) acquired competencies. These competencies are recorded and documented in writing as part of an individual portfolio.
The portfolio comprises six parts that document the development of individual skills in the areas of professional, methodological, social-communicative, and personal skills. The completed portfolio serves as an orientation tool for professional development opportunities and can be used as a supplementary document for job applications, for example. The completed portfolio is the basis for the development of the Europass CV.
Information on the portfolio model can be found on the website https://portfolio.uni-graz.at. An example competence portfolio can also be viewed there.
